Finance Executive
🌱 Who we are
Mother Root is the Ginger non-alcoholic aperitif. We harness the power of apple cider vinegar to serve up a dose of good feelings. Our mission is to redefine what it means to drink well and feel good - with drinks that are complex, delicious and rooted in nature.
Fresh from securing three offers on BBC Dragons’ Den, we’re on an exciting growth journey — scaling from a £7m brand today towards £50m+ in the years ahead, with 230% year-on-year growth already underway. With our small but mighty team, we’re building one of the UK’s fastest-growing non-alcoholic brands, both online and in retail.
We’re bold, inclusive and ambitious. We value creativity, curiosity and collaboration — and we believe work should be joyful, purposeful and full of flavour.
🚀 The Role
As Mother Root scales, our finance function is growing, and so is the day-to-day operational load that keeps it running smoothly.
The Finance Executive is a brand new, full-time role created to take ownership of the operational and administrative backbone of finance, supporting the Finance Manager and freeing up the senior team to focus on strategy, forecasting and building the function for the next stage of growth.
Reporting into our Finance Manager, and working closely with our Head of Finance and our outgoing outsourced finance partner during the handover period, you'll be the person who makes sure suppliers get paid on time, our bank accounts run smoothly, work with external accountants to ensure US tax obligations are met, and finance records are pristine. You'll be the dependable engine room of finance, the person everyone trusts to get the operational basics right, every single time.
This is a full-time, hybrid role with 3 days a week + at our London HQ (Fora, Farringdon), giving you full access to the team, our processes and the buzz of a fast-growing brand.
📋 What You’ll Do
Run the weekly payment process: own the prep, checks and back-up authoriser role for payment runs, so suppliers, freelancers and partners are paid accurately and on time
Look after our bank accounts: manage the day-to-day relationship with our account managers, user access, approval limits and ongoing admin
Own staff expenses and reimbursements: manage the end-to-end process for office and remote staff expenses, including company card costs and reimbursements
Manage contractor and partner invoicing: direct invoices, check billing details and payment terms, and chase missing information
Coordinate FX and international transfers: make sure funds are in the right place at the right time so major payments clear without delay
Support compliance obligations: partner with our external accountants, on filings and payments, and follow actions through to deadline
Keep our finance records tidy: maintain organised bank statements, supplier records and finance documentation, and flag anything missing or out of place
Help us level up our finance operations: spot friction in our processes and work with the finance team to improve approval workflows, payment timelines and controls
🎓 What You’ll Bring
A solid grounding in finance operations: payment runs, expenses, supplier admin and bank reconciliations are familiar territory
Confidence with numbers and a high bar for accuracy: you take pride in getting things right and double-check your own work
Strong organisational skills: you can juggle weekly cycles (payment runs, reconciliations) alongside longer projects (banking migration, process improvements) without dropping anything
Excellent attention to detail, especially with bank details, invoice information and approval limits
Comfortable working with finance tools (Xero), online banking platforms and spreadsheets, and quick to pick up new systems
A clear, friendly communicator: you'll be speaking with suppliers, freelancers, our external accountants and account managers regularly
Discretion and good judgement: you'll be handling sensitive financial information day in, day out
💫 You’ll Thrive Here If You
Love being the dependable engine room of a function, the person everyone trusts to get the operational basics right, every single time
Get a kick out of clean processes, well-kept records and ticking things off the list
Are happy rolling your sleeves up and owning the admin, while still bringing curiosity and ideas to make things better
Work calmly under pressure: month-end, payment runs and deadlines don't ruffle you
Are excited to grow with a brand on a serious upward trajectory, and want to learn from a sharp, senior finance team
